For many years, rhinoplasty was the only available option for patients looking to improve the size and shape of their nose. But recently non-surgical methods have been developed that allows patients to avoid the common risks associated with nose surgery, such as scarring, difficulty breathing through the nose, poor cosmetic results, and long recovery times and discomfort.
Understanding the Procedure
Non-surgical rhinoplasty can take less than an hour to perform and does not require anesthesia. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restalyne® or Radiesse® are used to even out the shape of the nose. It is injected in the area that needs adjusting — to fill depressions, smooth out sharp angles or change the angle of the tip of the nose. Adding fillers can also help restore symmetry and adjust the nose to be in better harmony with the rest of the face.
With non-surgical rhinoplasty, there is minimal pain and discomfort, and the patient is completely awake during the procedure — affording him or her the opportunity to look in the mirror and monitor the progress. All of the fillers can easily removed if the patient is unhappy with the results for any reason.
What to Expect Afterwards
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is non-invasive, so there are no stitches, casts or scar tissue to be concerned with. Patients can return to their normal routine immediately after the procedure. There may be some swelling and bruising, but it is usually minimal. The results of non-surgical rhinoplasty can last up to 12 months and may need to be repeated.
