All You Need to Know About CoolSculpting

Despite a healthy diet and regular exercise, many people find it next to impossible to remove stubborn pockets of body fat. Weight gain and loss, a sedentary lifestyle, pregnancy, and the natural aging process can result in stubborn fat that just won’t go away.

If you want to remove rigid fat pockets, a body contouring treatment like CoolSculpting may be just what you’re looking for.

What Is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a body contouring treatment that uses fat freezing to eliminate fat cells from the body. The CoolSculpting device grabs onto the body’s fat pockets and produces temperatures below the freezing point that destroy fat cells. Surrounding tissues of the body, nerves, and muscles are not affected by the CoolSculpting device.

Results from CoolSculpting take a few months to be apparent. The delay in results occurs because CoolSculpting does not remove fat cells from the body immediately; instead, it relies on the body’s natural metabolic processes to flush out damaged fat cells and their contents.

Fat cell waste is eliminated through your lymphatic system, which means that your urine, sweat, and other bodily liquids will slowly remove the fat cells over time.

What Areas Can Be Treated with CoolSculpting?

The body contouring effects that occur through CoolSculpting can be achieved on almost any area of the body where the device can hold on to a pinch of skin. Common areas where fat freezing can provide results include:

Abdomen

If you carry a little extra fat in your belly, CoolSculpting can help reduce layers of stubborn fat. The device simply latches on to the excess skin and tissues and destroys fat cells within the stomach. Over the following months, a sleeker abdomen is revealed.

Love Handles

Anyone who struggles to obtain an hourglass shape may appreciate a reduction in their love handles. Love handles can make it harder to find well-fitting clothes. Reducing the size of love handles can give you a look more proportional to the rest of your body.

Upper Arms

Upper arm fat is a common complaint. Patients often complain about bat wings, which are pockets of fat that hang down from the arm when lifted. Fat freezing can help reduce the size of the upper arms and result in a slimmer appearance.

Thighs

The thighs can be one of the most challenging parts of the body to tone. Even if you’re serious about leg day, inner and outer thigh fat can be difficult to eliminate. A body contouring procedure like CoolSculpting can help spot-treat areas of the inner and outer thighs that haven’t responded to diet and exercise.

Buttock Rolls

Buttock rolls appear directly below the buttocks. They appear as an extra roll or pocket of fat in the backside. The CoolSculpting device can remove this type of roll from the body, resulting in a more contoured appearance.

Who Is a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Your body weight will play a factor in your CoolSculpting results. As a body contouring procedure, CoolSculpting isn’t intended to be used as a substitute for weight loss.

The best results from a CoolSculpting procedure are obtained by someone who is already at (or close to) their recommended weight and wants to eliminate fat pockets that haven’t responded to diet and exercise efforts.

Patients above the recommended body weight can still undergo the procedure, but they may need additional treatments before they see the intended results.

Dr. Moradzedah will determine whether you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting by reviewing your medical history, any medications you are currently taking, and the results you are seeking to achieve.

What Can I Expect During a CoolSculpting Procedure?

Individuals undergoing CoolSculpting can expect a short treatment time. Most procedures can be performed in an hour, with no downtime required afterward.

You’ll lie down on the treatment table, and the areas of the body selected for body contouring will be marked with a pen. A gel pad will be laid on the skin where CoolSculpting paddles will be applied.

The CoolSculpting device lifts the fat pockets into the paddle and cools them to temperatures of negative ten degrees Celsius. The paddle will remain on your skin until the designated time for treatment has been reached. Many patients read or play games on their phones during the treatment session.

Once the treatment is over, the paddles will be removed, and your skin will be gently massaged to encourage the lymphatic system to begin its fat removal process. Following treatment, you’ll be able to return to your normal activities. Results will start to be apparent within two months.

Will I Need Multiple CoolSculpting Sessions?

The results you seek to achieve and the amount of body fat you have will both play a role in the number of treatments you need. Some patients choose to have one or two sites on the body treated with CoolSculpting, while other patients will require more.

Your particular treatment plan will be devised with your goals in mind. Dr. Moradzedah will help you determine how many sessions you will need and what body parts should undergo CoolSculpting for the best results.
