Most of you loved spending hours in the sun, but now your skin is paying the price. Even years after your ”sunbathing days,” sun damage can show up as brown spots and uneven skin coloring on noticeable areas such as your face, chest, arms, hands or shoulders. Luckily, my office offers a laser treatment specifically designed to improve and even out your skin coloring and texture, with little to no downtime. Beautiful skin is always an asset. Your skin can be smoother, softer, clearer and younger looking with my state of the art Limelight IPL laser treatment.
What is IPL?
I offer the top of the line laser system by CUTERA, which is the only IPL laser system approved to work on all skin types, including darker skin tones. IPL, or intense pulsed light, is gaining a lot of attention recently for its ability to tackle skin conditions that other laser, spa, or cosmetic treatments simply cannot.
Limelight photo facial therapy or IPL, is different from other laser treatments because it is non-abrasive to the surface of the skin. IPL therapy uses phototherapy to heat the blood in the top layer of the dermis, the melanin pigment. The heat encourages the even spread of both the blood and the pigment, leaving behind a smooth, even skin tone. When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation, cooling gel is used to maximize comfort.
What to expect
After a consultation to evaluate your skin I will customize the treatment personally to you and you needs. The IPL laser treatment (Limelight photofacial) will reduce or rid the damage done to the upper layers of dermis by exposure to the sun and redness or discoloration and fine lines. Limelight photofacial can be performed on many areas of the body, including the face, hands, chest, neck and shoulders. Immediately after the treatment, you may experience mild redness and most brown spots become temporarily darker. The irritation will disappear in the hours following IPL and it is perfectly safe to use makeup immediately after treatments. You may have to receive a series of 3 treatments for optimal results. A facial treatment takes 15-20 minutes with no downtime.
Who is not a good candidate for IPL?
Certain people should not get the IPL treatment:
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have a skin infection.
- Have been exposed to excessive sunlight and have a burn.
- Have had an artificial tan (spray or light-based) in the four weeks prior.
- Also, tattooed area cannot be effectively treated with the Limelight laser.
